On 28 October at the Vicenza fair conference centre, the first ever IEfor – the Industrial Efficiency forum – took place, an exhibition/conference dedicated to energy efficiency organised by the Milan trade fair publisher, Fiera Milano Editore, in conjunction with ANIE, the Italian electrical and electronics industry association.
Sandra Magnani, SAMARES CEO, spoke at the plenary session as ANIE representative about "A potential market for the future of automation: the intelligent network".
Ms Magnani discussed energy efficiency as it affects industry (which is responsible for 27% of consumption in Italy and which would swiftly reap significant benefits if energy efficiency were applied), considering it in a broader context, like that of the Smart Grids.
Through an overview of the sector, from the status quo to potential developments, Ms Magnani illustrated the guiding principles behind smart energy use and the benefits that this approach would offer industry. This includes enabling industrial estates to become self-sufficient by focussing on a smart use of energy from renewable sources. Her talk was a perfect complement to the issues dealt with during the day, which stimulated lively interest among attendees.
