SAMARES was set up in 2008 by Sandra Magnani to develop Smart Energy Solutions for energy efficiency and for a more intelligent use of energy.

Built around a new, market-oriented business model, SAMARES is a leading innovator in the field of Energy Systems supervision and automation, with the know-how to meet the market's evolving needs through a comprehensive range of solutions that integrate different technology strands in ground-breaking ways. In just over three years, the company has become the technology leader in Italy for automation and control systems for individual energy-generation plants using renewable sources (RESs), as well as for Operation Centres coordinating and managing several installations.

The firm has recently expanded into new-generation energy-efficiency solutions, with an innovative product to help reduce energy use at businesses, institutions, industrial concerns and building complexes with high electricity and heat consumption.

In its first 3 years, the company has also established itself as an important player in the plant and industrial security arena.

Samares' growth continued in 2011 with a fresh capital injection – courtesy of Atlante Ventures Mezzogiorno, Intesa Sanpaolo bank's venture-capital fund – and the business is now a public limited company.

SAMARES can boast cutting-edge expertise in a range of different technology sectors – including energy engineering (heat and electrical), ICT, telecommunications, SW and FW R&D, HW electronics R&D, and security – along with an excellent after-sales service. Using these complementary skills, SAMARES operates in a B2B environment as a trusted innovation partner for companies whose core business is focussed on the electrical market.

This is a young enterprise that is investing its resources in research and development. As a start-up, the company has come under the wing of the enterprise incubator Navacchio Technology Park, where its R&D centre is housed.

In 2011, Samares opened an Operating Office in Lecce, its operations & maintenance base. The office provides a logistical hub in the Puglia region, where most of our customers' ground-mounted installations are located.

Besides the R&D centre, another key to SAMARES' success is its management team and their proven international experience gained at leading information and communication technology companies.

In particular, Sandra Magnani, company founder and CEO, has held managerial positions with international responsibilities at a number of telecoms and ICT businesses, notably Alcatel-Lucent, Olivetti and Marconi-Ericsson.

The company achieved ISO 9001 certification in 2009. This means that the company has a compliant quality management system covering all aspects of its business, from administration to product life-cycle management, purchasing, marketing, design, personnel management and general management. ISO 9001 certification ensures that the production process is managed and monitored to assure its effectiveness.
